Main Street Alliance Stands in Solidarity with our Minnesota Family

February 10, 2022

On the Minneapolis Police Department’s murder of Amir Locke last week, Main Street Alliance released the following statement:

Main Street Alliance and our member businesses condemn the murder of Amir Locke at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department officers. We stand in solidarity with those demanding justice for Mr. Locke, his family, and all those who have suffered discrimination, targeting, injury and death because of white supremacy and police brutality.

“The gross negligence and laundry list of abuse by the Minneapolis Police Department, and police departments across the country, must be addressed,” said Co-Executive Director of Main Street Alliance Chanda Causer. “The continued unrest disrupts our spirits, safety and community. These ongoing abuses impact our communities of color, especially Black and brown communities, including our ability to support our local economy and employees.”

“Our community is grieving another loss. As a community leader and small business owner here in Minneapolis, I am imploring our local officials to bring justice to our city,” said Main Street Alliance of Minnesota Leader KB Brown, owner of Wolfpack Promotionals and AlphaWear Apparel. “We can no longer pretend to build an equitable future if we do not address the underlying rot in our police-community relationship. My neighbors, employees, and business customers depend on justice being served.”
