Small business owners nationwide applaud the 51 Senators who voted against repealing health care, with special thanks to Senators Collins, Murkowski, and McCain
WASHINGTON, DC --- In a moment of spectacular drama in the Senate, the GOP health care repeal effort failed last night with Senator John McCain’s decisive “no” vote, saving health care for tens of millions of people for the moment.
Amanda Ballantyne, National Director of Main Street Alliance, a national network of small business owners, issued the following statement:
“Last night’s failure to repeal health care offers a pivotal moment for our President and legislators to truly consider policies that are good for small businesses, the economic backbone and job creators of this country. In the rush to pass an ill-considered law that only served a partisan agenda, lawmakers overlooked the realities on Main Street, where small businesses owners need a government that invests in, rather than repeals, policies like affordable, high quality healthcare that strengthen the economy and make the whole community better.
Small business owners are now going to look to their elected officials to work together to fix and strengthen our healthcare system so that more people have better care at lower costs across this country. That’s the type of policy that benefits Main Street.”
