Main Street Alliance of Oregon members joined members of the Raise the Wage Coalition, elected officials, and allies to celebrate a huge victory for hundreds of thousands of working families across Oregon who will soon see raises in their hourly wages. Beginning in July, minimum wages will begin to rise over the next six years finally reaching $14.75 in Portland, $13.50 in Eugene and Bend, and $12.50 across the state.
Shaun Sieren, a chief proponent of the ballot measured proposed by the coalition, hosted the event at his restaurant, O'Neill's Pub. Nearly 100 business owners and community leaders came out to toast the monumental victory. One that will mean a world of difference to Oregon's lowest-paid workers and the businesses on Main St. that depend on a vibrant customer base.
