WASHINGTON, DC --- In response to today’s deal in the Senate to pass a three-week stopgap spending bill, Amanda Ballantyne, National Director of the Main Street Alliance, a national network of small business owners, released the following statement:
“The government may be back to business as usual for now, but Congress has yet to solve major problems facing hundreds of thousands of Dreamers facing deportation.
Dreamers and their families’ lives and futures are on the line, held hostage in a cynical political game. This destabilizes and devastates communities, and also erodes one of the most powerful elements of a flourishing, diverse economy that works for small business - immigration.
It’s time for our lawmakers in Congress to roll up their sleeves and come up with long-term solutions that give small businesses and their communities stability, including cleaning up the mess President Trump made when he rescinded DACA.”
