To often, small business owners are "spoken for" by lobbyists who claim to represent us but don't stand up for our best interests when it comes to health care.  To change that, the Main Street Alliance is encouraging small business owners to speak for ourselves - click here to share your story!

In the Taking the Pulse of Main Street report, 63 percent of small employers surveyed were willing to contribute 4 to 7 percent of payroll, or more, to get quality health coverage for employees and themselves.

Report: Small Businesses Want Real Health Reform, Are Ready to Pitch In
Small business owners want real health reform, are willing to contribute, and want a quality public health insurance option.  These are the findings of Taking the Pulse of Main Street: Small Businesses, Health Insurance, and Priorities for Reform, a report released in January by the Main Street Alliance and partners in ten states across the nation.

The report is based on a survey of nearly 1,200 small business owners spanning twelve states. The survey probed small business owners’ experiences and opinions in the following areas: How are small businesses faring in the current health care system, and what steps are they taking to cope with recent trends in cost and quality? What kinds of reforms do small business owners support? Are small business owners willing to contribute… and if so, how much?
